Parish Nurses

Parish nursing is a recognized specialty practice that combines professional nursing with a health ministry. It has been recognized as a specialty by the American Nurses' Association since 1998. The main objective of our parish nurses' group is to provide general health education but on occasion the nurses are asked for specific health resources and information.
We are also known in the parish community for our popular Dine and Learn programs which take place in the spring and in the fall. These programs have social as well as educational benefits. The events begin with a social gathering followed by a presentation given by a health professional. After the formal program there is a full dinner for all attendees. Since the presentations also meet the guidelines for continuing education hours as defined by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, nurses are given a certificate of attendance - 1 CEU - which may be applied toward continuing education requirements.
