Youth Ministry
August 1
Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s),
I pray that this summer has been a time of relaxation and renewal for you and your family. As we head into the new school year, here at Holy Cross we are gearing up for a new and exciting beginning for Middle School and High School Ministry.
As you are probably already aware, Holy Cross decided to make a commitment to the youth and future of our parish by hiring a full time Coordinator of Youth Ministry last May, Mr. Dwight "Dewey" Szarkowski. The goal of the new approach is to offer authentic Catholic programs that are more interactive, practical, and have a strong spiritual impact.
As Catholics, the Mass is the "source and summit of our faith", therefore the program will be centered around the 6:00PM Sunday Night Mass.* The Mass will be followed by faith meetings called "Life Nights". These meetings will replace the old Sunday Morning CCD classes. Generally, the meetings will be broken into High School and Middle School meetings and will happen every other week. (First week High School, Second week Middle School and so on.) The first High School Life Night will be Sept 12 starting at 7:15PM in the Gold Room, and the first Middle School on Sept 19 starting at 7:15PM in the Gold Room.
Youth Ministry Program consists of the Life Nights and other activities such as retreats, lock-ins, concerts, service projects, trips and socials in order to provide your child with a rich variety of faith experiences. For your child to get the most out of the new program it is crucial to encourage your son(s) and/or daughter(s) to participate in more than just the Life Night meetings.
With all the new changes is it critical that you attend the parents informational meeting in the Cafeteria on Monday, Sept 13 at 7:00PM. Be sure to share your email on your registration form as it is a critical means of communication.
REGISTRATION
will take place for grades 6 through 12 on the following dates:Saturday, August 28th from 12noon to 3:00PM Gold Room (Basement of the Rectory)
